13th Judicial Circuit Eldercaring Coordination Pilot Program – What is it and how can it benefit your clients and your practice?

1.0 CLE Credit

Eldercaring Coordination is a dispute resolution process during which an Eldercaring Coordinator assists elders, legally authorized decision makers, and others who participate by court order or invitation, to resolve disputes with high conflict levels in a manner that respects the elder’s need for autonomy and safety.

Speakers:

General Magistrate Sean O. Cadigan, is a graduate of the University of South Florida in Tampa and Stetson University College of Law across the bay. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1989 and was in private practice in the Tampa Bay Area until late 1992 when he began his career with Florida’s State Courts System. He was appointed as a General Magistrate in late 2000. He started his current assignment in 2004 when he joined the Probate, Guardianship & Mental Health Division of the court in Tampa.

Jennifer Branch,  has worked for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit’s Elder Justice Center, as a Court Counselor, since September 2000. Her primary duties include reviewing guardianship plans and accountings, serving as a court monitor on guardianship cases, assisting elder victims of domestic violence with petitions for injunctions for protection, and referrals to community resources. She and another counselor also teach the eight-hour Family Guardianship Class, and the four-hour Minor Guardianship class. She is currently the Pilot Site Administrator for the Eldercaring Coordination Pilot Project, in the 13th Judicial Circuit.
