• Discussion of proposed legislation that would require OSHA to issue an occupational safety and health standard that requires covered employers within the healthcare and social service industries to develop and implement comprehensive workplace violence prevention plans.
• Discussion of OSHA’s ability to cite employers for failing to take steps to prevent workplace violence under the General Duty Clause, Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and recent related enforcement activity.
• Discussion of OSHA’s current Guidelines for Preventing Workplace Violence for Healthcare and Social Service Workers and other best practices.

Speakers:

Dee Anna Hays is a Shareholder in the Tampa office of Ogletree Deakins. Dee Anna is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Florida Bar. She frequently advises employers on best practices for implementing workplace violence prevention policies, employee handbooks, safety manuals, and represents employers during OSHA inspections.

Winfred Marrero is a retired OSHA Compliance Officer with extensive knowledge in Process Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene & Safety. Winfred is currently a Health and Safety Consultant at the USF College of Public Health
