This year's Red Mass is set for Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at 12:10 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in downtown Tampa. Judges, lawyers, law students, law school professors, and others in the legal field are invited to attend the Mass, and judges and academics are invited to process in in their robes.  The Mass will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Gregory L. Parkes, Bishop of the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Persons of any faith are invited to attend.

The "Red Mass" is a  historical tradition within the Catholic Church dating back to the thirteenth century when it officially opened the term of the court for most European countries.  The celebrants—government officials, lawyers and judges—would proceed into a church clothed in red vestments or red garments, signifying the fire of the Holy Spirit's guidance to all who pursue justice in their daily lives.
